Active control channel for the Site 2 simulcast cell is 854.5375.

I was able to verify that this control channel is on the air, and is broadcasting the alternate control channels, so I've added the site to the database. I wasn't able to monitor it long enough to determine if there's any activity on this cell yet, nor do I know how many of the cell's subsites are actually on the air yet.

Also note that I've added 859.2625 and 860.2625 alternate control channels back to the Metro Simulcast. I know that 859.2625 is still the active control channel for the Colonie system, so it'll have to be locked out of the Albany system for the time being, until the Colonie system is finally shut down.

I downloaded the updated DB last evening, monitored for awhile from my QTH in Glenmont, but didn't hear anything on the Simulcast Site.

The second stage is only transmitting control data. No communications are being handled through the controller yet. A few units have been able to register, but most Registration and Affiliation requests are being denied.

I posted a screenshot on Facebook of the two parts of the system side-by-side in DSDPlus.

Not sure if it's my reception or the system, but I'm not receiving the Colonie P25 system since yesterday around noon. Can anyone else confirm if it's off the air or not? I used to receive it pretty well and now nothing.

I don't detect a control channel on any of the Colonie frequencies. Looks like almost all of the talkgroups had already been migrated to the county system, so it wouldn't surprise me if that system was finally decommissioned.

The Metro Cell is now announcing 18 frequencies.

The County Cell is now announcing 6 frequencies.

COUNTY LAW 1 is on both cells, but via Patch.

Yesterday I heard the techs refer to "INTEROP 15" as channel 5.

A patch? That's not how ASTRO 25 systems work.

This is a multi-site system that features two simulcast cells (virtual "sites" comprised of multiple physical subsites). Talkgroup 10003 is fully operational on both simulcast cells without any need for a patch of any sort. It simply exists in the zone controller and carries the traffic on either cell (or both), all transported natively through the IP network. It doesn't matter what cell a radio is affiliated with, it's all the same audio coming from the same ASTRO 25 M Core and going out over the RF for each cell.

Did they run a patch cable from one cell to the other cell?

No it's all done by computers essentially. Talkgroup 10003 is listed as valid on both simulcast sites thus it can be active on both.

Oh, so they run a patch cable from computer to computer?

What I think Dave meant by "patch" is that county law 1 is (and has been) patched to the VHF analog sheriff's channel.

That would certainly make sense, but absent him stating it clearer, it reads like he was saying the talkgroup was patched between simulcast cells.

I'm going to add a note in the database to make it clear that analog is patched with trunking.

When COUNTY LAW 1 is active, DSDPlus shows (P) on both systems.

It did not show the Patch indicator before the simulcasting started. COUNTY FIRE 1 does not show a Patch indicator, nor is it being simulcast onto the County Cell.

In fact, COUNTY FIRE 2 is also patched to UHF, but it does not show a Patch indicator in DSDPlus, either.

Therefore, (P) in the case of COUNTY LAW 1 indicates how it is being simulcast, probably for testing purposes.

This is a single system, there is no "both systems". I'm not sure what exactly you're seeing in DSD+, but whatever it is, it seems to be causing you to be confused by how Motorola ASTRO 25 systems work.

I think what Dave is referring to is 2 simulcast cells. This is in reality no different than the CNYICC system that has 4 simulcast cells. The only difference is CNYICC has a cell in each county....Same P25 system...

You are speaking the same terms as GTR, however, a patched talkgroup has nothing to do with being patched across different cells. A "patch" a patching of talkgroups (or sometimes logical resources IE: Talkgroup to CCGW.)

Dave seeing patching means a logical patch exists between talkpaths... it has nothing to do with going across cells in a single core system.

In your CNYICC example, a talkgroup roaming from Madison to Cayuga wouldn't show up patched... it would just roam as a single resource.
