Guilderland

Does anybody have the talk groups for Guilderland. I have seen a spreadsheet with the channel plan for police, fire and EMS, but it did not have the talk groups.

No clue what they are - Guilderland has started to install equipment, but haven't done much else yet with the new system.

Sounded like Guilderland EMS was on 10965 via a console patch for a bit this afternoon. Five Quad is now on 18309 as of this afternoon. Five Quad was talking to Guilderland on 10965. Patch may have been in place for them.

Looks like Bethlehem PD is on 10921. Seems like their dispatchers are coming through with the same RID and the units are coming in via a patch of some sort since there is no RID. I can't hear anything on 156.09 but that may be normal for where I am. Can anyone else confirm if they are patched together? I never really listed to them before. I'm seeing similar IDs on the Bethlehem EMS tg as well. Guessing Bethlehem is in the process is moving over.

I'm receiving Beth. PD on both the County Cell with ID 10921 and the old analog frequency of 156.090.

Apparently as of the last 24-48 hours Bethlehem PD has "pulled the plug" on the patch from the old system (156.090) to the County system. TG 10921 as noted before. Interesting to me that this was done so quickly as other entities have been patched for months on end.

Due to the lousy reception I have here in Glenmont (also previously noted), I'll have to consider one of those pagers I guess - or wait for one of the scanner manufacturers to build a better scanner for these systems! Of course I'll probably hold off because once I do that, they'll either encrypt or go to " Phase II"!

The main factor in unpatching from the legacy systems seems to be radio installation. Once an agency has all of its new radios, there is no need to patch back. Looks like Bethlehem got finished quickly.

Thanks Dave. Makes sense. Small department. I was talking to an officer the other day standing next to his car. His radio didn’t sound much different than mine! As far as I know there is no TG for the FD yet. There is for EMS. The FD would be a lot more gear I guess,

I see that a "Site 3" has been added to the database. I'm curious as to the original source of this information.

There are no radio transmissions on any of the frequencies listed - not even the CC. The other two parts of the system still only list each other as neighbors. There is no information being sent about a third site.

Checked the FCC database and a license for this new site was submitted in Dec. 2017.
I put the new site data into my scanner (BCD436HP) and am receiving data on the control channel but I have not logged any transmissions yet. According to the database listing for the site it only has a three mile range so I’m not surprised I’m getting a fairly weak signal in Troy using a portable with stock antennae. I’ll have to head over the river to Cohoes this week and see what I can find.

Haven't plugged it into my scanner, but have a strong signal on Unitrunker in North Greenbush. I've logged Albany Co. Fire 2 (409) and Cohoes RID's (1506XXXX).

Maybe someone who has first hand knowledge of the info submitted it.....

It's there...I can hear it and I heard Cohoes Fire on it. It is broadcasting as shown in the RRDB, as Site 3. It may just be to fill in that area so it could be low power or not very high up. Try taking a drive up 787 and I bet you'll hear it.

It may only be in their (Cohoes) radios so it's not being advertised as a neighbor on the rest of the system so other radios don't try to find it. Or maybe it's still being tested so it's not treated as "live" for the other cells yet. But it's there.

I had a receiver parked on the listed CC all day yesterday with a yagi pointed up the river. Even when Cohoes was on a call (dispatched in the usual way on UHF and the Metrocell), there was not even a squawk on that channel. All traffic was available on the Metrocell.

Also, I watched the CCs of both system cells with DSDPlus all day. They have never indicated any other neighbor cells besides each other.

It is possible that "site 3" is a gapfiller, but if so, it appears to be running at very low power and/or from a location with limited coverage, and is not completely available from the main system.

Re-reading my comments above, I can see where someone might think I am denying the existence of this "site". All I meant to convey is that I am not receiving it where I would have expected it to be usable, and that the rest of the county system seems to be unaware of a third cell at this time.

I have added it as a third site to my 436 so I can see what appears when I am away from the RF black hole in which I reside.

Site 3

Site 3 is in fact a stand alone site located in the City of Cohoes. It is only one tower (not simulcast) intended to fill in the dead spots there. On the bright side those with scanners in Cohoes will not have multi-site problems. It is my understanding that the number of talk groups will be very limited.

Looks like Guilderland Fire and Police have started simulcasting on the system via patches much like Bethlehem did initially. Police is 10961 and Fire is 10967.
