I have depreciated the two TELUS systems (LTR and Mot II). No traffic on them at all, no control channel on the Mot II - iDEN (MiKE) has taken over.
Speaking of MiKE, Cochrane Public Works crews are reported to be testing such phones, perhaps in preparation for migrating to that system (my speculation).
The above could be related to the rumored approval of a large project by several municipalities and regions in and around Calgary which will see all emergency response parties (and perhaps others) in the area (excluding RCMP) migrating to an expanded Smartzone radio system (piggybacked onto 753F) in the next year or two.
(With all the "maybes" and such stripped out, what it boils down to is pretty much every emergency response agency within any kind of proximity to Calgary is likely to be moving to the Smartzone system, which will be expanding greatly to cover a much larger area.)
