BCD396XT/BCD996XT: All Keys & Buttons not working

Looking for help with my 996XT, for some reason none of my keys will work. My lockout, menu, hold/resume, every numeric key will not work when pressed. Only functions that work are the knobs to power scanner on/off, and Squelch, all other keys/buttons will not work. I checked to make sure the scanner was not on key safe mode and powered the radio on/off. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check the ribbon cable going to the keypad. Others have reported the same thing and that was the problem. Some have even stated that it didn't feel loose, but the keypad started working again after they wiggled it.

Thank you for reply, I had seen posts about that cable. I had a friend open the radio and just touched maybe even wiggled the cable, closed it up and powered on and realized it worked. Hopefully whatever it was wont happen again.
