Hey Guys- Have a question regarding the trucked public saftey system in King County. Fairly new to this hobby and trying to get my feet wet. I've read and read and read about trunked systems and all over every forum, manuals, easy to read manual, but it's still confusing.

I'm using a bc246 and bc tool for software. When I go to pull in the king county system in from radio reference it gives me that monster list of frequencies. around 115 to be exact. They are grouped into Seattle Simulcast, Apple Cove, Grass Mountian, etc... So I understand those are all different locations-- I'm assuming of towers? Do I only need to use the frequencies of the tower that's closest to me? Or all of them. There's one on education hill which is practically in my backyard. I think the different towers might do different things. Maybe someone could give me a high level on the seattle system or point me in the right direction.

In a nutshell, I'd like to start by listening into Redmond and Kirkland PD and eastside Fire, but a little confused on exactly how to do it. I tried pulling the whole King County into my scanner and then locking out everything I don't want, but it keeps landing on talk groups that are just numbers and I can't determine where they are. Thanks for your help guys.

Go for EPSCA (868.775). Education Hill is an IntelliRepeater. My super long post about the system might be helpful.

An IntelliRepeater acts independantly of the rest of the sites. If there are units working somewhere near there and they can't get good coverage from one of the other sites OR the IR provides better coverage, their radios will affiliate with the IR. But it won't carry all the traffic (that you want to listen to) all the time, so it's fun to have it in a separate system in ID Search mode, just so you know what's going on in that area.

taco I would say cut and paste into a new thread called "how it works" or something then you can keep it nice and clean for the sticky.

I been wanting to do the exact same thing with ScanCAT Lite and my Pro-2055 (the same as the 97)

Anyone here familiar enough with ScanCAT and the 2055 to say how to enter this King Co. Sys.

That being said, I also want to have another bank for 2502 and another for 7F32.
