I have been considering getting a base scanner like the Uniden BC895XLT. However, I am unable to find any with the text ID tag for trunking or conventional systems. I am not interested in purchasing a digital scanner. I currently use a Radio Shack Pro-2067, but I would like to put that in my car. Please let me know if you have any information. Thanks!

I gather you are looking for the text right on the scanner, hooked up to the proper computer program most any scanner can have text tags input into the program that will show up when there is a hit on that freq/TG.

So what you are saying is that I could take the BC895XLT, program it with a computer and add text ID tags to any talkgroup or frequency?

If it is a computer controllabel scanner, and you have the proper software, you can put your own text tags into the software. You would only view them on your computer while the software was running and hooked to the scanner with some type of Virtual Control feature (which most software has) It would not change what you see on the scanner's display.
