Our BC band tx's are quite low power except for the RNZ National on 567kHz. Most of the rest are networked so other than the frequency there's no way of ascertaining which tx you are listening to, especially as some frequencies are doubled up.

Some of the Aussie stations are quite high power due to the vast areas they try to cover and they also use frequencies in the troppo bands 120, 90 and 75 metres.

You can get arrested for this, can't you.... :)
around this joint anything goes:D

Ah, you're into the LW beacons too. It can be addictive :)

I've bookmarked that classaxe.com link. It's one I didn't have, thanks.

I'm actually in the middle of building a low pass filter to block out some of the hash caused by AM BCB stations. 500kHz Low Pass Filter Hopefully it will attenuate everything above 500 Khz. (I get some music too in the 200-300khz range).

I had to mail order the torroids because they weren't available locally. I'm still waiting for them.
Neat! I think a video of the results would be awesome.

You sure that isn't CKOR Penticton? They blast in here in the Seattle area like a local most nights. I think they have hockey on certain nights.

Never heard CKST on 800 myself. There is a station with those call letters higher up the dial, though. 1040? Can't remember offhand. All sports. I think CKST moved there, at least according to the Wiki.

CKOR will be instantly recognisable any other time (aside from hockey) because they play pop music, and ID frequently as "EZRock".

PS: INE comes in fairly well here in Seattle. In a way, it's a marker for the low AM band. On good nights a second beacon in the general area, from Canada, will interfere with it. I think that beacon is on 520 khz. Can't remember the identifier, log isn't handy.
Well I went on assumptions using this
Radio Stations in 94122.
but if it's CKOR I will take it as it's another decent DX:)

Making progress on my noisy "Ice Bog" antenna. I'm feeding it with two 30 ft pieces of RG6 connected with a barrel connector. So, I used a wood working clamp and clamped the barrel connector to the water well vent pipe. Noise gone! (no idea where it's coming from, I don't hear it on my other two antennas) Just 150 ft long now, but it's sounding good.

If you're hearing BCB stations on longwave, then try this trick: put both the attenuator on to knock them out, and the pre-amp to get your gain back. Usually works for me.

New one yesterday:

1370khz KDTH Dubuque, IA 01/24/16 0210 CST (1010z) Nostalgia music, GOOD R75 BOG

Roger on the ATT and preamp. Tried both but preamp pulls BCB stuff right back in every 10kHz, so I just do ATT.
Nice antenna system there-I hope you get great results!

I'm 99% sure you must have heard CKOR. There is a CKST "The Team" (at least that was the slogan they used until recently) in Vancouver BC on 1040, and the wikipedia says they moved from 800 to 1040 several years ago. Tune-In also says CKST is on 1040. So Radio Locator must be off.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CKST

I've never heard a Vancouver BC station on 800 -- or at least if I have, it was so long ago i don't remember them. I've been DXing fairly regularly since late Fall 2011, and have never heard a CKST on 800.

Try the frequency again and listen for the "EZ Rock" ID and pop music, then you'll have CKOR verified.

Acc. to Radio Locator they don't seem to have a null in their pattern. No wonder they're so strong here. Their music isn't bad, either. Good sound to the station.

If you're sure then I'm sure BB. You are more familiar with the situation than I am. Like I said, I assumed based upon the listings. Thanks for the help/info.

I caught a very weak reception of the VOA on 1530 from Sao Tome last week and uploaded a video of the reception to YouTube. Tonight they signed on the air like gangbusters, so this one supercedes the old video since this reception is much clearer. It was pure DX adrenaline hearing this sign-on announcement on a domestic channel!

Listening to 710khz WAQI Miami, FL 1020z (4:20am CST) in Spanish but mentions of Miami, Iowa caucuses, and ads for "Eyecare America". Well above NYC on the channel. Haven't heard them in a while. R75 and 150ft wire.

Thanks. If you can null out WCKY then you might have a shot at this one when conditions are favorable. They sign on at 0300 UTC but start listening a few minutes prior for the interval signal.

Thanks also for the link to the VOA pictures!

Ya just sucks not having a dx radio this year .working on getting my g2 going. so I'm looking for a ferrite wand to tape to the radio because I can't get enough gain by setting the loop next to the radio. right next to the internal rod it synched but not well.

hf-sorry to hear that. I think you need more radio there because of how deep into the hobby you are. I know all the monetary/finances stuff is an issue, but it would be nice if you could score a tabletop receiver that does it all. Plus on Ebay they are selling a fantastic MW antenna-the CCrane "Justice" AM twin coil. I have one and it is VERY effective. It can get a cleaner copy on stuff in MW that the Wellbrook rooftop antenna kinda misses! They go for about $60-130 used which I know is a lot but worth it. That thing would liven things up in MW DX in short order.
Here's one for now

WBT 1110 in MASS

I listened to the superbowl on Feb 7th in my jeep while traveling on 1100 AM- WBT the Carolina Panthers flagship station all the way up on MASS. Came in crystal clear. I thought I would miss the end of the game.

you know ridge it kind of sucks I had the am band go out on my superradio which I spent alot of money on tricking out. . I put solder terminals on it had afew other things done one morning dx for 12 hours strait bam am band wont tune . so I gave it to mu uncle with my cradle for his shop to use for fm.
of course what does my dumb *** do sell al my radios and buy a r6 and afew antennas and all the assesorys for it . there the most worthless radio ive ever owned that includes the palstar I was sold with no sheilding . so I sold it for 80 bucks and bought this g2 good on shortwave for a portable but im a mw guy. I bought it for recording so know om planing on getting a line filter for my ac adaptor I run it through a 4.5 v fixed adaptor because my battery is bad but the line in the house is noisy .but I have it set up so the loop works ok ill post a pick of my hfflunky cave soon
