I bought this antenna for when I ride to different areas to collect information for Mike.

I got mine from AMAZON for I think around $19. I does a great job.

Mike, do you have any intel on the Coshocton, OH (Coshocton) site?

No I do not. I really don't think it's online at this point. I can rarely pull in Millersburg -- but the last time I did it did not show any new neighbors. I check it when I'm able, which is probably once a week that I'm lucky enough to pull in Millersburg.

I imagine it will go online soon though. Until we get a confirmation that it shows up as a neighbor somewhere, I wouldn't recommend a road trip as I think it would not bear fruit.

I agree I would think that it would have neighbors of Utica and Brinkhaven if it were live. I also imagine that I could hear it from some of my listening sites here in Licking Co. My road trips will be on hold for a little, I justified todays since I was already on the road I just drove a little further east down 161 before going home.

Yeah I agree with you that it should have shown up as a neighbor if it was online.

Understood. If we get a hint that it's online from the east side here, I'll commit to travelling to get the details. I've been stuck inside for too long lol. And if I am too lazy to do it, firemantom or n8jsw will shame me by doing it :)

well lets play it by ear. I am not sure why I like chasing the sites down so much.

Hmm Millersburg extremely weak. But the fact that I was able to pull in the NAC suggests that if I leave it set long enough I might be able to pull in Mburg on one of the signal peaks. I'll post what i find out.. if anything.

Stone Creek would be a neighbor, but isn't reporting any new neighbors. So, with so many sites that we would expect to be neighbors not reporting Coshocton as a neighbor, I'm pretty confident that Coshocton isn't online at this time.

I can only really pull in Newcomerstown and Millersburg on a "good weather" day. Today isn't one of those. I know that Tom and Josh (n8jsw) do check those sites when they are able to pull them in, and the last I knew they weren't listing a new neighbor.

So I scanned the range that Mike asked me to and I found that I can hear with full bars on my scanner with the factory antenna, Belpre which didn't surprise me. I did not hear Marietta, but I did find on 855.7875 NAC 052h. Looking in the database, that is the Reedsville tower. I had only one bar on it though. Once the virus is gone, I may drive to my Dad's house which by looking on the map, that tower may be only a few miles away from his house.

Here was what I had when I scanned the range
854.4125 NAC 045h
855.7875 NAC 052h
857.8375 Digital noise
858.8375 Digital noise
858.9125 Digital noise
858.925 Digital noise w/ CTCSS tone
860.8625 Digital noise

I plan on setting up Unitrunker and DSDPlus sometime this weekend and head to Marietta maybe by the end of next week to see what I can find with it.

Ok, DSDPlus is best (in my opinion). If you need any help, PM me.

854.4125 -- Belpre AEP P25 control channel
855.7875 -- Reedsville AEP P25 control channel

Once you get either DSDPlus or Unitrunker running, you'll want to tune to those two frequencies and then gather all relevant information about those two sites, but specifically the latest peer/neighbor list (and freqs associated with each peer/neighbor)

Since you can obviously pull those in from where you are, you don't have to go mobile. Might as well learn how to use either DSDPlus or Unitrunker proficiently before going out mobile with them. Otherwise you'll probably pull your hair out on a mobile trip when you are trying to use them.

Once you have DSDPlus and/or Unitrunker going, it wouldn't hurt to see if you can pick up a P25 signal on one of these Marietta East frequencies (since we don't have Marietta East confirmed yet)

854.7875
855.3375
856.9125
858.5625
859.3625

Then, if you decide you really want to jump in a car, if you can find a high area closer to you it would probably serve you better than driving miles up the river and still being on the river floor looking for things. Elevation will be everything.

Thanks

mike
