I have all the PL's on 161.2950 which represent Channels A-H. I would like to know what channels cover Penn Station in Newark, NJ and Penn Station in New York City

Thanks

The "Newark" repeater is 114.8 -- I think it is actually located just across the river in Harrison just like the "Trenton" repeater in Morrisville.

Further up the line, Saybrook CT is 156.7.

Is there a Midway up in New England, or would that be the Midway (Monmouth Junction) in NJ? Amtrak has a repeater licensed for Midway/NJ but in several years of listening for it (and I live less than a mile from it) I've never heard it used, even when units are right there. They're always on Adams.

Justin, you missed Newark. If you're doing the NEC in order N-S then it should go NY Penn, Newark, Metro Park, Adams, (Midway if that's the NJ one), Morrisville.

The Radio was from a Boston Officer, so I doubt it went any further than CT if at all.

Are you guys sure that the 161.295 frequency is used by the foot patrols in NY Penn Station? I was in there just a few years ago, and was doing a limit search silently with some ear phones on, and I sat on 161.295 as well. I was not getting any traffic, even as I saw officers walking by a few times with their portables squawking away! :D

I made it a personal goal to get in there recently & confirm what they are using, but that unfortunate think called 'work' just keeps getting in the way (and I can't hide the 500 in my jacket - this is going to have to wait until I get my 396XT)!

Just a heads up, AMTRAK might have only one officer covering the entire NJ segment of the NE Corridor at a given time so it's not unusual not to hear much, if any, traffic between units or between units or bases.

Usually, AMTRAK relies on local PD's to respond to incidents on their property and that includes fatals. I'm sure their manpower situation is like that throughout their system.

And thanks Jaymatt1978 for posting the channel config. Where are Adams and MVL located?

The Adams repeater is at the Adams MOW facility in North Brunswick. MVL is Morrisville, PA; as I noted in a previous post they refer to this as the Trenton repeater (it's right across the Delaware from Trenton).

FWIW. Noticed today that Amtrak PD is showing up now in the area with a PL of 114.8 here in Elizabeth/Linden area versus the usual PL's from Adams, Metro, Nwk, and New York. Traced it back to the North Elizabeth tower. So looks like they may have moved Newark to N. Eliz.

Try 160.365, PL 131.8 for Amtrak PD NY Penn operations.

Also, officers seem to use 160.205 as a talkaround or chit-chat channel while in central NJ (sorry, no PL as I monitor with a Pro-95).

In addition, I have never heard reference to a "Metro Park" repeater, but rather a "Metuchen" repeater. I don't doubt that it might actually be at Metro Park, but the officers refer to it as the Metuchen repeater.

My comments regarding the Metuchen Repeater remain though.

That's actually my fault for being technical. By Metro I do not mean Metropark. The APD repeater and 161.010 radio base at Lincoln Interlocking in Metuchen is known to C&S as Metro because of the company that owns the tower site.
