After "updating" Sentinel I noticed the ability of the 436 to properly decode the 700/800Mhz P25 simulcast systems was diminished.
Not possible. Updating the frequency database isn't going to affect the decoding algorithm.
Additionally, the volume produced by what can be decoded drops very low at times.
Different radios have different modulation settings. Some are overmodulated, and some are undermodulated. Sometimes people don't talk very loud. Having a better AGC function would help some, but there's only so much you can do with a transmission that is crappy to begin with.
If a fix to these problems is being developed, can we expect it this year, next year, 2017, etc?
If you'd bothered to read UPMan's posts, you'd know that fixes to the issues are being worked on, but some of the problems are due to third-party vendors outside of Uniden's direct control, and therefore giving any kind of firm timeline is not possible.
