Are you sure? The DB says it's P25 Phase I, not the Motorola Smartnet anymore. They do have APX radios, and I believe they are using digital.
@tvengr was talking about a file he was troubleshooting, not the actual HoCo system.

The RR database shows only one talk group for the county Department of Highways and it is labeled for southern district. Does anyone know if there are other TGs not listed or if the county uses the one talk group county-wide?

Anne Arundel County - Am I not posting to Anne Arundel County Radio System Upgrade?
Right, the P25 one says there are multiple, but public safety (excluding MOST Fire/Rescue TGs) talkgroups are all fully encrypted. Not sure why it doesn't show you.

There are three highway divisions organized in Anne Arundel County Public Works: Eastern, Western and Southern and seven yards. It's possible that other tgs have not yet been Identified as this is a relatively new system. Or perhaps there is only one tg for the entire county. You will have to listen to the system to find out. If you discover them, please submit to the RRDB. Also note that the St. Margarets Yard (Eastern District) had a fire recently - not sure if they are still operational, or working out of another yard.

Not sure why you can't view the others? Here is a screenshot of what I can see.

Not sure why you are showing a screenshot of AAFD and AAPD tgs when he's asking about the Highway Dept.

8697,8698,8699,8700,8701,8702,8703,8704,8705,8706,8707 are all DPW related talkgroups. Only Southern District utilizes their talkgroup for whatever reason and they use it very rarely unless there is a weather related event. On the other talkgroups, sometimes there is some very light chatter/key ups but usually when a user calls for another user, there is no response.

On the Southern District talkgroup (8697) during weather events, only southern parts of the county have been mentioned.

From what I gather, they heavily use cell phones and not radios.

If we actually get snow this winter, maybe these other talkgroups will become active.

Interestingly barely any radio traffic from Roads (highways) even with the heavy snowfall. Only 10 radio transmissions copied since midnight and most were just keyups.

I'd be curious. A lot of jurisdictions track their plows over some sort of data connection so the can see them in their ops centers. No more hiding (or taking money on the side for private jobs) lol.
