Are they still using that janky CAD system they had issues with a few years back, or did they migrate to something else?

Last night, they started to be able to use their SME's. They are still doing repeat dispatches so I am not sure if station alerting is back up or not.

The way I understand the county's strategy for FSA (Fire Station Alerting) is that the individual volunteer departments install their own FSA system at the station level and the county is responsible for equipment in the career stations. There is a industry-standard data / control protocol that the CAD system / FSA subsystem (might be separate vendors) sends over the wired connection to the station's FSA equipment (another vendor). Conversely, Montgomery County owns and maintains the FSA equipment in every station, volunteer or career (most stations in MC are still owned by the VFDs). Considering the mismash of vendors involved, it may not be a straight-forward recovery procedure, lol.

Stewy Pittman's office sent out a community engagement email which mentions a cyberattack last weekend:

"This past weekend, Anne Arundel County identified a cyber incident of external origin. Our dedicated team, including the Office of Information Technology, public safety officials, and cybersecurity specialists, are working diligently to investigate and restore systems. While some online services remain impacted, essential operations—such as 911 and emergency response—remain operational. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work toward a resolution. Updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available."

Seems that Fire Battalion Chief's have "aides" now. Not sure if it is a temporary or permanent change.

They should have aides - particularly if the aides are driving the vehicle. Managing a response while driving is not something that should be multi-tasked IMO. Plus on the FG, they can split duties, like accountability for instance.

Saw BC3 out today getting lunch while delivering at work. He was with his aide. As expected when they left the aide was behind the wheel to leave the Chief to do command stuff.

I guess @ThePhotoGuy will be busy submitting the new tg definitions, lol.

Ha. I have submitted all the talkgroups except 9 of them in the database. I guess I can submit some more!

I would be interested in reading the department orders if someone has a copy and wants to send it to me! ;)

I wonder if Technical Rescues are now handled by the Battalion Chiefs instead of the Special Ops Chief?

So I'm assuming that zone/channel position 1A and 2A are both simulcasting the dispatch channel? What is going on with the south battalion tgs on Zone 1 - have they be repurposed or are they still in use as originally provisioned?

Dispatch is countywide. Likely both in the 1A and 2A positions in the radios.

So far no activity at all on the 1F-1N talkgroups.

Looking at the chronological order of the TGID's, I suspect that Zone 3 may be medical with 3A, 3B, & 3C being EMRC Call 1, Med 4, & Med 8. It will be interesting to see the final layout of Zones 1, 2, & 3 so I can complete my programming.

I wonder if the FIRST 700 Med channels will / would be programmed in Zone 3 as well? Or if Medic Units have dual band radios with UHF that would enable the legacy MIEMSS pairs?
