Simply put... WOW.

Looks like both of these will be a great addition to the Uniden lineup! Some great features there, can't wait.

Cool... I like the 396 size and shape. I was afraid that it may have grown in size to something like the PSR500. Now, don't let us distract you from that firmware release... : )

I'm working on Wiki pages (with pictures), but it might take me a couple of days to complete. Still planning to release the 396 and 996 rebanding update tomorrow (might slip to Wednesday), running beta tests on the 396XT currently and starting beta tests on the 346XT later this week (slate is filled, but thanks for your offer to help).

Form factor is nearly the same as the 396 on both models, but the speaker grille has been modified to improve audio level and, of course, the functional printing on the product will reflect the new features.

Oh (and hopefully an admin can fix this when they make this a sticky) but my sleepy fingers mistyped the BC346XT in the message title. The posting is correct.

Should have said the yahoo message board for the BCD996XT. Any changes for the 996 or is this for the firmware updates?

Mike

I have created no such group. I believe it was created specutively based on something seen in a post (not by me) a few months ago.

Thanks for the discriminator output. That makes me happy!

upman, what was the story behind this photo - http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showpost.php?p=868481&postcount=138 Just a red herring to throw us off?

Will there be any kind of upgrade/trade-in path for current 246T and 396T owners? I'm guessing not, but it never hurts to ask... :)

The picture was in response to someone who suggested an MP3/Scanner combo. My attempt at a suggestion for accomplishing such.

Can't speak for dealers, but we are not currently planning such a trade-in program.

A couple of quick questions:

How many "AA" batteries will these units need?

What will be the antenna connector? SMA or BNC?

I wouldnt want an ipod / scanner combo anyway. Would cost too much, battery life would be bad.

If I need to listen to music/baseball game on the radio and the scanner
I put one headphone in each ear.. normally the scanner louder

I really think you should consider the switch to BNC as most scanner users use BNC.

If someone really wants SMA they can get an adapter.

Although I understand if its based on the 396 then your going with the same design etc (the 396 had SMA)

ohhhhhhh

Control Channel Data Output – allows the analysis of control channel data without the need to perform invasive modifications to the scanner

Band Scope – gives a rapid graphical display of the strength of signals within a specified range of frequencies

bastards... I have to spend money now. I thought... no i dont need this new radio i can deal with my 246, now to sell it on ebay before the market is flooded.

I kinda like the sma adaptor setup that I have with 396t. As much I take off a antenna atleast the wear is not on the base of the scanner like it was on my 245. BNC would speard apart over time if they were to much pressure against it causeing a weak singal connection.

This thread has turned downhill in a hurry... I expected at least 14 hours before the crap started flying.
