Hello. A couple of weeks ago I finally decided to upgrade my firmware. I went through the process of getting my ESN and Checksum. When I tried to enter the info into Uniden's web site, the Checksum was OK, but I got two irritating error messages when I tried to enter the ESN.

The ini8tal message said that I tried to enter too many numbers; the second message said that the ESN that I entered dd not contain enough numbers. This happened repeatedly.

I checked and rechecked - I entered the ESN exactly.

Has anyone else run into this? I cannot register my radio and thus cannot upgrade.

Thanks, Ed

Firmware..

I did - when I enter the 9 digit number, the error message says I must enter only 8 numbers, so I try to take 1 out (I tried taking each one out at a time), and then the error message says that I need to enter a 9 digit ESN.

It's crazy.....there is no solution.

Does anyone know a phone number for Uniden support? I couldn't find one....

All BCD396T ESN's start with 32826 and are followed by 9 more digits. You need only enter the 9 digits.

Make sure you don't have any spaces before or after the digits. Make sure you are entering only digits.

Also, make sure you selected BCD396T as your model.

I just reregistered a unit to ensure that things are working correctly, and they seem to be. If it still is a problem, send your ESN and checksum to me by email (not PM) and I'll see if I can determine what is wrong.

Upman, I believe I have done everything that you specified several times. That's why I'm so frustrated. I emailed the info to you as you requested.

Thanks for your assistance.

I checked the ESN/checksum you emailed to me. They work fine, so it seems it is something you are doing...beyond what I said above (be sure you are entering the last 9 digits of the ESN and selecting the correct model) I can't think of anything else to advise.

EDIT: When I got to work, I was able to look at your product registrations. It appears that the problem is that you did not enter a valid physical Serial Number (not enough digits). Fix that and you should be good to go.

Upman - thanks - I tried it again and got the same result..here is the exact error message copied from your website:

"Check Sum passes. Please go back by clicking your back button and enter a valid serial number using integers.

You must enter 8 digits and only 8 digits for the scanner's Serial Number."

But I'm supposed to enter 9 digits, which I did (see below).....

I then went to another computer and registered with a different name and password, filled in all of the information, entered the serial number as you did, and got this message again...here's what I'm entering:

864666275 1C1 and I get the error message.

Would it be possible for you to register for me? Sorry for all of the trouble, but why can you register and I can't?

Thanks, Ed

Per my previous message, fix the serial number (not the ESN). Your entered serial number doesn't have enough digits.

Got it!

I did not know I had to enter a physical serial # - and your email mentioned that!! Sorry - once it hit me, I found the serial number underthe batteries and it worked!

Again - my apologies for wasting your time! But Thank You!
