I have been playing with a loaner radio from a friend and I'm trying to get Chirp to work on my Mac. I was able to successfully download the program, but I'm having difficulty with my Mac recognizing the USB cable when I plug the radio in. I can't do the "download from radio" option because it doesn't show any of the USB ports on my Mac. I have downloaded the Prolific driver from the Miklor website and that didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions?

When you plug in a Prolific (commonly PL2303-based) device you should see it in System Information, hardware/USB, and two new devices should appear in the /dev directory: cu.usbserial, and tty.usbserial.

If that’s not happening it’s possible that the driver isn’t loading. In recent versions of macOS when you install hardware drivers you must go to System Preferences/Security and approve them, otherwise they will be ignored.

You might try the latest drivers directly from Prolific, as they seem pretty good at keeping things up-to-date.
