m1a,

The two links in the above posts should give you a number of choices. Unfortunately, however, you won't be able to listen to the trunked systems that are shown on those pages with your present scanner.

Let me also welcome you to the site.

In reference to your question quoted above; range has little to do with the scanner and everything to do with the system you are trying to listen to. I am sure that some scanners have better receivers than others, but generally they are all about the same; that said, what you need for your area could better be answered by asking in the Tennessee forum where some of the locals can give you local advice and examples of what they use. You will probably find someone who may not live too far from you who can give you specific advice for your immediate area.

Welcome to RR.com, m1a!

You have come to the right Web site for help. Although your scanner has been a good unit in the past, in today's radio environment it is a little deficient to do much more than what you are already doing with it. I would suggest you consider upgrading to a more robust scanner, especially one that can handle trunked systems.

I also suggest you post in the Tennessee Radio Discussion Forum for suggestions and help. Since they are local to the area, the folks on that forum would be able to give you much better advice.

Again, welcome.
