The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am doing a bit of planning on a project. The system we will want to monitor is on 800 MHz. The location is a challenge for monitoring that system. A Unication G5 (without being in an amplified charger) will hear it for a bit in a certain "sweet spot", but moving slightly loses the signal. So, to be able to monitor it, consistently, in the building, it will need to be in an amplified charger.

So, with that in mind, is it safe to say that almost ANY 800 MHz antenna connected to the Unication amplified charger will work better than the VHF 1/4 wave antenna that comes with the Unication amplified charger?

At home, I use a magnetic antenna mount, with a NMO150/450/800 Pulse-Larsen Tri Band Whip. I am looking for any suggestions for mobile 800 Mhz antennas with NMO mount. I found one that lists gain: 5 dBi. In the real world, would I notice much difference between the NMO150/450/800 and the B8065CN?

I am in a similar situation. I monitor a system that i am on the edge of.
By watching the error rate i found that putting a full size motorola antenna on the G4 gave me better results than using an external 800 antenna. For my testing i had a mag mount antenna with one of those older what we used to call pig tail antennas. They have the curl half way up. Not the most scientific test but i found what works for me.

I was using one of these when I had my G5 which was recommended in another thread a while back and it was an improvement and did not affect the center pin.

Disregard, I didn't realize you meant the base

I don't think you are going to notice any difference.
I run 800MHz radio in my work truck on my trunked system. I've been playing with the new Larsen NMO-150/450/758sf and comparing it to the Larsen NMO-800.
I don't notice any difference in them.

If you are trying to listen to an 800MHz system with the pager, having an external antenna is going to make a big difference. I think any of those antennas will work fine for what you want. If you can't pick up the system with those antennas, there's probably not much else you can do.
