There's a four port Stridsberg multi-coupler on ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEBI:IT&viewitem=&item=190081252941&rd=1&rd=1

Does anyone have any experience with these? I want to put four BC780's on a UHF air band antenna and this looks like a better solution than a four-way spliitter with loss.

Thanks.

Electroline commercial drop amps have a much better price-performance ratio than Stridsburg.

You can get them New surplus off of Ebay for a fraction of a Stridsburg.

Use RG-6Quad Shield for the jumpers.

The Electroline then sounds like a better solution.

I'm looking at the 8-Port "Active Return" model EDA-FT08100 XSP but do not understand the significance of the terms:

Forward Passband 54-1000 MHz
Return Passband 5-42 MHz

Obviously Forward Passband means it would pass those frequencies to the scanner, but what is the Return Passband?

Nevermind, it has to do with what it does to signals sent back thru the drop for things like cable modems, cable boxes etc.

Exactly.

You don't need anything that fancy.

The cheaper amp without the return would suffice.

Most also include a power supply.

Be sure to get some termination resistors if you have un-used ports.

I have 3 of these things now and I'm very happy over the 2 stridsburg's I used to own that
kept failing.

Trooperdude, Can you give a rundown on how you are using the Electroline ,ie
a quick pic of it in the shack, an how you did your cables from the coupler to the rigs. Also a bit about the termination resistors . Thanks

I posted the setup here in a different thread a while back.

I'll have do to a search and link to it.

I have a single port model mounted in a Hoffman box at pole top for an 800mhz
yagi, to receive a system that I'm on the fringe of. 18db gain.

The others are mounted on a rack panel.

I'll take some shack pix when I have time.

I'm re-configuring the entire shack this holiday weekend.

Hi Jim,
Here is a crappy pic of one of my Electroline(Had to crawl under my desk) that is connected to a Diamond Discone. It is the EDA amplified model.
Top cable on left is for my 2036 Trunker scanner
To the right of the first cable is for my BCT-15
Cable at the very far right is for the second BCT-15
Botton left is coming from the discone and on the right of that is the power cable.

All cables on top head off to the radios

Hope this helps a little.
Take care

Tonsoffun, Ok now I can see what he was talking about. I assume you just put a bnc connector on the other end of the cable for the scanner. Thanks so much for taking the picture. You went above and beyond. I also have the discone ant....now I am really thinking about getting one. Take care

Would these work for connecting multipule ham or CB radios to one antenna?

For receiving yes, for transmitting , NO!

Yes, I put F compression fitting on the splitter side then installed the BNC compression (snap and seal)for the scanner side. I was thinking of selling these cables at various lenghts but I don't know if there is enough interest.
Glad the photos helped you.
Take care

That would be great for us non-mechanically inclined people! I know I'd buy a couple.
