antenna question

Hi all

I live in Northern St. Lucie County, very close to the Indian River county line. St Lucie county is 800 Mhz system and I have one of those magmount antennas and I am still having problems with it cutting out and having way to much static, I was wondering if their was a better antenna for listening to 800 Mhz systems. I can hear indian river county real well on their EDACS system but have problems with 800 mhz.

Go with a mini mag mount and a 800MHz 3dB coil whip antenna. The 3dB coil whip is probably what your local police/fire/ems are using. Mag mount is $20 plus connector and the antenna is $9.50. You can use the RADIOREFERENCE 10% off coupon code at http://shop.waltel.com

Another possibility is that you are having Nextel interference. If the interference is sporadic and strong, and you are near a Nextel site, then that is probably it.
