Any radio with timer recording?

I need to replace a really long in the tooth Ccrane witness recorder. Are there any portable radios out there that offer
a recording function? Specifically I need a timer (on/off times). All I'm finding so far are radios that support recording but you have to be present to
actually start the recording function manually, then also turn it off when done. Basically useless.
Too bad the Ccrane witness was discontinued long ago. If they came up with a new model they would make a Billion dollars.

Sdrplay's nRSP-ST has a recording schedule functionality for wav or IQ. Once set it can record without pc.

Pretty complicated and expensive solution to what I need. I guess I should have mentioned portability and
recording to an SD type format. I don't think anything like that exists out there at this time.
