I used to pick up a lot of the Shrimpers in the Gulf on 6 Meg's...Anybody else listening?

0520Z 08NOV 2182 KHz Second check-in from Sailing Vessel "Magic" with
Bermuda Harbor Radio. BHR is loud and clear here, but Magic is weak and at
times barely readable to both. BHR requests 4125 KHz (a GMDSS
calling/distress channel). 4125 KHz Magic is loud and clear, same as BHR.

Vessel discusses loss of steering, has to head-up under main only, luff the
main, fall off, and repeat. Never making more than a couple knots and never
closer than 5 degrees of course required to make Bermuda.

Comm-Sked set for 1 hour, next check-in s/b just before 0630Z.

Comm-Sked now set to 4 hours, vessel in same predicament but no immediate danger. BHR reports USCG has noted that there are dozens of merchant vessels more or less surrounding their current position should they require urgent assistance.
