I guess we could ask.....Wow! So how is an owner supposed to know whats fixed / added for each firmware release?
Heard of release notes AOR?

When using SDR# are both USB cables and the IQ dongle required?Try using the 5700 with the sdr# software, it works very good and you have a hi-res spectrum display.
Version 1920 supports the AOR 5700.

For SDR# you only need the two usb cables (one for remote and one for IQ data), no dongle. When using SDR# are both USB cables and the IQ dongle required?
Got it! Successfully installed all the AOR software and SDR# yesterday and finally got all of it to work. Only negative is neither package will allow me to change from ANT1 to ANT2, not sure yet what might be causing that. I'm using a 10 year old i5 laptop with 8gb memory as a temporary test bed so the processing power for the IQ portion is lacking but I can't see why neither package would allow me to change antennas. For SDR# you only need the two usb cables (one for remote and one for IQ data), no dongle.
The dongle is only needed to run the AOR supplied AR-IQ-III software
It seems to be a radio "feature"Got it! Successfully installed all the AOR software and SDR# yesterday and finally got all of it to work. Amazing! Gotta wonder what the thinking is behind the code writers at AOR. Thanks for the tip.It seems to be a radio "feature"
Just checked, indeed ANT1 to ANT2/HF switching doesn't work on HF, however it should work higher than 25MHz.
(for me on VHF I was able to switch)...
If you read the manual (page 9, connecting an antenna), it seems that the antenna port functions are inversed when using I/Q (so with SDR#).
Normal case= standalone radio:
ANT1: 25MHz-3.7GHz
ANT2/HF: 9kHz-3.7GHz
IQ case (=SDR#/AR-IQ-III via IQ OUT) or IF case(using 10Mhz IF OUT):
ANT1: 9kHz-3.7GHz
ANT2/HF: 25MHz-3.7GHz
So, something to take into account when connecting antenna's..
Good question. A firmware update would be required. Radios would need to be sent to Japan for the firmware upgrade if and when it becomes available.Question for 5700D owners.
Does it decode the C4FM VW (improved voice) in addition to the classic DN. I saw that the next DV-1 firmware will accept VW decoding, which is not currently the case .
No usable TETRA down here Hertfordshire. I can hear some but encrypted. After at least a year of looking and prevaricating, two days ago I managed to get hold of a used 5700 from Martin Lynch & Sons at a semi reasonable price. It was sold new in January this year so hoping the firmware is fairly up to date.
First impression is how heavy and solidly built it is. With my less than perfect eyesight and chunky fingers I like my radios to be even bigger with more buttons and controls readily available on the front but I’m pretty happy with it as it is. In operation it reminds me of the AR3000a while being much more substantial and a lot more versatile.
I was a little worried that my local light rail transport Tetra system was only producing occasional bursts of static and no voice transmissions, however a check with an Airspy on SDR# is now also giving no voice even though it is still not shown as encrypted. Is anyone having success with Tetra reception in the UK?
Looking forward to playing with Cyber Search on the Civil and MilItary airbands. In the meantime I’m very happy with the speed of normal search and will continue getting to grips with the user manual.
Where are you in Herts ?No usable TETRA down here Hertfordshire. I can hear some but encrypted.
Hi I live near HoddesdonWhere are you in Herts ?
London Underground share 390 -395MHz in the clear with Airwave, but you need to be near the rails or stations to hear them...Hi I live near Hoddesdon
Not much chance of that then. Basically the TETRA side of these things is a waste of time in the UK so we are paying for something that doesn’t work in the UK. The only good thing is it covers DMR and the ham digital prtocols.London Underground share 390 -395MHz in the clear with Airwave, but you need to be near the rails or stations to hear them...
I was trying to be of help as you are not a million miles from a London Underground stationNot much chance of that then.
