No such thing as a apco25 repeater in ham radio. If you notice the repeaters that do digital in ham radio follow a whole different protocol, not apco25. APCO25 is not approved for ham radio repeaters or will it be viable because of the cost. For example DSTARS by Icom is digital but it is not apco25 ,and in most cases cost prohibitive, the radios' themselves are like 1200 dollars or more and the repeater cost as much as an Icom IC7800.

According to the arrl website there are at least 8 digital protocols allowed includin 2 which were developed by ham radio operators in which one of them is used by AOR AR9800 which has digital voice on hf. DSTARS is a ICOM radio system which uses one of the protocols that are listed in the ARRL list.

And who thinks ARRL is the FCC or much less knows what there talking about? The ARRL is just a money sucking company that will advocate for whoever gives them the most money, not amateur radio. Thats how we got winlink.

We have a P25 70cm ham repeater here in the Metro Boston area as well. A Motorola Quantar. Works great! Used Motorola ASTRO gear is actually cheaper than new D-star equipment.

What's available in Chicago/Northern Illinois/surrounding states for P25 repeaters in the 2-meter band?

Please advise, along with output/input freqs, NAC required, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I just installed an Astro Spectra mobile with P25 functionality. I'm certainly looking for 2m P25 repeaters...

It appears that most are using the Motorola default NAC of 293. Is this correct?

I would like to see a comprehensive national list of P25 repeaters. I have seen that some repeater coordination authorities are already providing P25 repeater pairs - based currently on the standard ham 600 kHz split.

So far, I have found that the Motorola default NAC 293/293 is most popular. One P25 machine in Jacksonville, FL has A55/A55.

Why don't we start listing all known P25 freqs here, assuming the repeaters are open?

I've been trying to do that with the map link 2 posts up. Other than the ARRL directory I haven't seen any other comprehensive lists.

What I have found is that some who have mixed-mode capable repeaters want to keep the P25 capabilities quiet and not advertise it. It's their decision, so with that being the case an on-line list won't be all comprehensive.

What is the simplex calling frequency and NAC for 2m P25 ham use?

In my radios, I have 145.670 (common for D-star), 446.025, 146.52, and 446.000 all in P25 with NAC 293. That's me anyways.
