Ok well there's something my IDAS radio doesn't have. Glad to know you get an activity indicator for the extra thousands. I stand corrected.

I'll correct you again. You can easily get a new DMR radio (including a TRBO portable) which is comparable to your IDAS radio for under $1,000. They all have busy channel indicators.

Even the lowly Astro Saber which sells for under $100 has one.

Perhaps you should be asking ICOM why they don't have one?

The land of broken calculators.
Um... now I'm wondering if there's been a misunderstanding. Every radio has a busy channel light but what I was saying is you don't hear the repeater coming back to you.

Not really any sense in carrying on the argument and getting another infraction over it.

DSTAR, APCO25

Please check the ARRL Repeater guide pages 587-608 for APCO and DSTAR repeaters. We have a number of digital setups here in Georgia. DSTAR has been around for a number of years as have other forms of ham digital setups.

Does anyone know the NAC number for the 444.100 in Englewood, Florida? I haven't had much response from anyone.

442.600 KB4CTS mixed mode repeater SK

Unfortunately the KB4CTS 442.600 mixed-mode Quantar that was up on the Auburn tower in Eastern Wake County is off the air. The repeater is on Ebay being sold. Randy KB4CTS is using the funds to further DMR for Amateur Radio use in Wake and surrounding counties.

Modesto wide area;
440.800/445.800 analog PL 107.2 / P25 NAC 29B, 5khz wide

147.090/147.690 analog PL 141.3 / P25 NAC 29B, 4khz

Next system is being built and will be on the air by end of 2014:

Coalinga wide area;
443.725/448.725 analog PL 107.2 / P25 NAC 29B, 5khz wide

NOTES:
NAC 29B systems are analog linked and P25 local repeaters
NAC 29A systems are analog and P25 standalone repeaters

Enjoy... it's open systems and the linked analog audio is also linked into the entire Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, Ventura and Las Vegas UHF repeaters with an agreement with another Radio Club. So, you will be hearing/talking to Southern California traffic on my linked repeaters.

I am pleased to relay some news from back home.

The W4SQT 2 meter repeater in Richmond VA has gone to mixed mode P25.

Yep! Although the call is now KG4MRA and they'll be switching on P25 4/4/14. Will finally be able to use my VHF P25 gear!

Correction to my earlier post

Allow me to make one correction to my listing of the Midland, TX P25 VHF repeater. The NAC is 293, not 093 as I earlier said. It is P25. Unknown how many users it has. Also, P25 repeaters do not need PL codes. The NAC is the P25 equivalent of PL (or DPL, for that matter). PL and DPL are for conventional FM use. If the repeater is a mixed-mode, (conventional and P25) it might have a PL (or DPL) as well as a NAC decode function to determine which mode to repeat. Hope this helps clear up a bit more P25 confusion. I have two ICOM IC F1721D VHF mobiles I use on 2 meters (analog and digital) as well as various public safety frequencies in my area. There are a couple of agencies who's bases transmit analog and receive both analog and P25. Makes it interesting to program the radios !!!
