It's so funny to see how clueless everyone was about P25..and even digital modes (VSELP, DSTAR, ETC) only a few years ago.. There are several hams in my area that freak out when they hear the digital sound on our repeater here.. I've even had to tell a couple of guys that they were hearing p25 a few different times..

Glad my not being familiar with D-STAR (err, I meant "DSTARS") in 2004 brings you a sense of joy.

They don't freak out here...they just try to key up over us hoping to quiet the repeater. Clueless is a very good definition of their lack of knowledge even though I have given numerous demo's locally.

Fortunately, GA
How is it that the Aussie hams are further ahead on digital than those in the US who think D-STAR is the great operating base for ARES and RACES?? I'll take Phase I P-25 any day over Icom's version that was designed for use in Japan??

Responding to the comment that Hams cannot use Apco 25

Maybe when we see new stuff investigate it first before we comment.
I have seen in the past alot of wrong information being shared

Hello, to those interested in running P25 systems on Ham radio. I started a Yahoo group for P25 interest after I put up my P25 repeater here in Detroit. I was just searching around for others interested in this same mode and came across here. Just seeing that others are listing P25 repeaters, I'm interested in adding my repeater to the list and maybe posting a copy of it on my Yahoo group home. If anyone else is interested in joining the group it can be found at APCO25hamradio@yahoogroups.com.

T.J. Molenkamp
KC8LTS Detroit P25 repeater
146.500 +1 MHz NAC 293
Non P25 Repeaters
224.360 -1.6 MHz PL 103.5
442.175 +5 MHz PL 123.0
927.4875 -25 MHz PL 131.8

Just came back to the site after a long time away, started reviewing this thread and have seen that people here have been looking for lists of P25 repeaters. I have been maintaining a list of P25 repeaters, since I started the Yahoo group in 2006, in the database section of the group I have updated it with the submissions of frerquencies that I have gotten so far. If your repeater or other are not in there it is because I was not notified of it. I have been busy the last couple years with a new addition to the family and haven't been able to keep up too much on radio stuff. However this list is still one of the biggest lists that I know of. If you have corrections or addition please send them to me on the group.

Thanks, T.J.

PS for those in the Detroit area that didn't know my P25 machine got coordinated and moved to 147.330 with a standard offset.

There is a flattend out micor here in the Spokane WA area that will easly pass slow rate
digital. I used a astro saber IMBE version with my only problems being on the fringe of the
repeater and hash mixing with my signal at the repeater site, but I was able to hold a conversation.
two stations were xts3k and an astro saber. I am on the fringe of the repeater.
The repeater transmits on 444.2000rx CSQanalog or 293NAC.

Has anyone tried Digital IMBE "P25" through any of the Amsats? I saw an article whare a couple
of Dstar users were able to make a sucsessful contact iirc UO27.

Hi All,

Another P25 repeater has been added in Sydney over the Xmas break. Different repeater owner and operator this time (just to mix it up a bit rather than putting all the P25 eggs in one basket lol). Peter and myself made a few discoveries about how these beasts operate as it was setup and installed. There will be some interesting things to come.

This one is in mixed mode - 91.5Hz tone for analog and P25 digital with NAC 293 to access.

Input:- 438.2750Mhz
Output:- 433.2750Mhz

Repeater location is north of Sydney at Berowra, NSW - callsign VK2RWS.

Just wanted to give a very early heads-up that there may be a DC-based, P25 machine on UHF later this year. Initially, the stand-alone high-site should provide solid portable coverage throughout DC and inside the beltway as well as mobile coverage out to 30 miles or so.

It is way too soon to give any specifics as I do not want to jinx the project at this early stage!

73,

Michael

Just wanted to give a long overdue update (just one year to the day!). The Dulles airport 2m machine, K4IAD, will be upgraded to P25 (NAC293) in the next few months. New repeater and duplexer are awaiting installation.

The UHF project is still a work in progress...
