I have recently bought a second hand AOR AR8600 scanner and have the AR86ctrl programe which I am trying to use. It seems that there are two types of banks, one SEARCHES between upper and lower frequencies and one SCANS the frequencies that you enter. The previous owner has programmed in some SCAN banks and some other freqs but I just want to programme my own freqs into banks and SCAN them. When I connect the radio to the programme all I get in the LIST view is the SEARCH banks and some other freqs that are in banks but I cant find out how to edit them. What I want to do is programme frequencies into banks using the software and scan them but neither the radio or software manuals really explain how to do it. How do you type in your own SCAN bank freqs. Do you have to do it in Excel and then import it? It would be so much easier to use the software than do it manually on the radio. Thanks in advance

I use the AR86ctrl program to program my 8600. I may have a solution to your issue. It involves using 'Notepad' (a simple text editor that is part of Microsoft Windows) and also the use of Microsoft Excel. PM me if you're still having this issue.

I have created a list of freqs for Bournemouth airport in Excel and managed to get them into DB1. Now when I open LIST view I get BANKS A-J and a-j plus SEARCH BANKS, SEL SCAN, PASS FREQS, LOG VIEW and DATABASE. When I open DATABASE my list of Bournemouth freqs are there. I have created a bank (in E and called it Bornmth) but I cant find a way of importing my DB1 freqs into it. I can type my freqs directly into my Bornmth bank but that seems to defeat the object of using Excel. So how do you get from Excel into a bank and scan it.
Hope this makes sense.

What happened to your Excel techie friend?? It's so simple - although the way you're doing it is like the saying 'going around the mulberry bush' ... you're just complicating things. I did offer to help!

I did try to PM you but clicking on AOR-262 I got "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action. " and I thought that putting it here might help others with the same problem. My friend is in Enfield, I am in Lymington and he is running Win 10 but he did manage to download the programe and load the sample files - c:\program Files (x86)\AR86ctl\data\ - then told me to read the manual and get on with it! Nearly there but just need that final nudge.
