I have been using ARC-XT PRO to program my new BCD996XT and have run into several issues so I am interested to know if others have experienced the same problems.

Specifically, when programming the GPS Range into a conventional system the distance programmed is one-half the distance specified in the program. The GPS Range in trunked systems programs correctly. Second, several channels that I have designated the Mode as Digital Only always program as Analog Only.

I have sent Gommert emails about this but he is on vacation. He is usually very responsive but I certainly don't begrudge him some time off.

In the meantime, I've become a little frustrated. This may not be an ARC issue and that's why I'd like to know if others have the same problem.

Thanks.

I am running into the same problem with the site range being programmed correctly and the group range to be half of what I had programmed.

I checked a few of my channels set to to Digital only, those are being programmed as digital.

When I upload a configuration, it won't upload the backlight color, it stays white.

Setting up trunked systems

I liked ARC-996PRO better in terms of setting up trunked systems. The interface was more clear on exactly what system was being set up in what mode, although I "know" that when set for Motorola II it will ignore the details for EDACS systems, and when set up for an EDACS or LTR system it will pay attention to the LCN's. However, what bugs me the most is that the range settings for trunked systems have become more complicated again, and I've never been good at figuring those out! Specifically, all I needed was the base frequency, step, and offset channel. With XT PRO it asks for Lower and Upper rather than base frequency. It seems that using the known base frequency as lower, the highest frequency on the system as upper, and setting the step and offset work, but is there a better way? The manual doesn't really clearly explain how to set this up and seems geared more toward prior programs that were set up like 996PRO. It just says something like "enter the base freqency". where? lower range? any hints or this or what the upper range should be? I've never run into this before...

Uniden changed the way UHF/VHF systems are programmed, see the online manual: EditBandPlan < UnidenMan4 < TWiki , when you leave the upper freq blank the software will calculate the upper freq for you.

I thought you had to enter both the lower freq and upper freq. I've been using the spreadsheet from the online manual.

Which software calculates the upper freq for you? Is this ARC-XT or the scanner software?
