Questions-Since I am a donating member of the RR database, Can I really just pick a system and it will automatically download the frequencies into the scanner using ARC396PRO? Will it do both conventional and trunking? What about talk groups and alpha tags? Will it automatically download alpha tags from the RR database to the radio? That would be fantastic! I programmed the Nashville/Davidson County police system into my radio using the Uniden software and it took me forever! I have been using the free Uniden software since i've had my 396 and cutting and pasting can be annoying especially for HUGE systems found in bigger cities.

I am trying to make up my mind on spending the 70 bucks on the ARC396PRO-If it really can automatically program the radio-that is worth it in itself.

Also, If i were to purchase the ARC396PRO-are future updates/upgrades to the software free?

Both ARC396 Basic (39.95) and Pro can directly import trunk systems, this includes tags/comments. You can download a demo version and try it out before you buy.

You can import conventional freq's from any website, the next release will also support the Radioref webservice for conv. systems.

Also you can always upgrade from basic to pro, updates within the same version range (1.xx) are free.

After reading your post i downloaded the demo version! GREAT PRODUCT! I cannot wait until the conventional systems can be directly uploaded to the radio from the rrdatabase! It makes programming very simple.

When you d/l the ARC software from Uniden, you can get a registration code emailed to you - which I did.

However, when I enter the code, it doesn't accept it.

There are two fields for data - Key 1 and Key 2. Inputing info into either or both of these fields doesn't do anything. When restarting the program it still indicates that it's a demo.

Any advice?

Is the demo the PRO version, and your key is for the BASIC version?

No, at least I don't think so.

Check out the link I posted - you can download Arc396Pro from Uniden.

Uniden has it's own software for the BCD396T, and it's free, but it's totally different from Butel's ARC250PRO.
