I am from Indiana. I have to input the whole state as a Trunking system. I notice that in certain cases I see counties with talk Groups in the trunk system. In addition I see the same county with conventional frequencies that I know are active. Question: How do I tell what is active or not active with talk groups other than just programming them in and trying them. Thanks in advance

For the SAFE-T (Motorola), usually, one just programs the frequencies for the closest site in the trunking system. Then program just the TGID's for your district and any other general ones like the capitol police. Since I am not from your area, others may offer better advice.

Greetings from Kokomo,

Not all the talkgroups for the Hoosier SAFE-T system are active, but are listed for a given county or city. When I programmed my scanners for SAFE-T, I used search mode to populate my talkgroups. That way I didn't have talkgroups programmed that weren't active, then I used the RR database to assign alpha tags to the talkgroups I found active. I still use search on occasion to find new talkgroups that have become active as changes in the system take place.
