Hi all! I have an Archer Amplifier (pictured below) that I am using to amplify an FM radio signal primarily. It works great & all besides one potential problem: It gets fairly hot when it's been on for a while (say, ~3 or 4 hours +). It's not so hot that it immediately burns you, but it's not just a little warm either. I would say it's somewhere in between if that makes sense.

So, is this normal? Can I continue to use this amplifier safely? I should also note that it was plugged up directly to the wall outlet, if that helps any.293343586_1260347521200673_9106659941513658215_n.jpg

If you can attach it to the side of a metal desk, cabinet or something...that metal case will transfer some of that heat away faster. Others have already indicated that that's the m/o for that unit, so enjoy it while that classic still works.

It is also a class A amplifier so it is biased pretty well one to be in the linear range so yup, lots of wasted heat. Good suggestion to mount it on a metal sheet or heat sink. Given the age, you might want to change the filter capacitors in the power supply at some point.
