After combing through Middlesex County for example, I am very confused whether the following analog frequencies are backup only or still in use full time?? If any of these are indeed backup ONLY, it is very hard to tell from the DB listing:

453.475 - County Hotline
158.820 - Dunellen FD Alert Dispatch
46.420 - Old Bridge FD
453.650 - Perth Amboy FD
ALL of South Amboy Analog frequencies
478.9125 - Woodbridge FD Dispatch

If Middlesex is anything like Bergen County I think 453.475 is used for towns on UHF to communicate to the county so I would leave that alone.. It's not really a "backup" more than is is a link for towns.

Not sure about Dunellen, but all of the rest are used full time. The South Amboy ones are used as a back-up/paging ops I was told by a Police Officer just this past week.

Ok, thanks for the info. GM, so the South Amboy freqs are still used full time for paging only?

Thats good to hear. So it seems Perth Amboy and Dunellen are the only ones in question.

Nice. I only asked about these since recently when traveling through those areas, I didn't hear much on the analog handset. Good to know that they still page out on conventional channels at least.

Dunellen Fire is dispatched on 158.820 then switches over to Somerset County TRS Fire region 3. They still have some portables that they use the vhf channel for their santa rum and other things.

Also the county hotline is patched into the Middlesex County TRS as more and more towns jump onto that system
