Found a link to the most recent (2008) Communications Plan for the Arizona Division of Emergency Management:

The Comm Plan is at http://www.dem.azdema.gov/logistics/docs/comm/CommPlan_Sept08.pdf

Also check out the AZDEMA 2010 Annual Report at http://www.azdema.gov/sa/publications/regulations/09-10%20Annual%20Report.pdf

  • In the Comm Plan, some good info on the HF and VHF DEMA Radio Network (DRN), but outdated VHF freqs.
  • Page 59 of the Plan shows the channel lineup for the DEMA portable radios. Note the extra 3 TGs in Zone 1. APS or another system?
  • Starting on Page 110 of the Plan is the roll call list for the 800 and VHF nets.
  • Starting in Page 14 of the Annual Report is a summary of current communication initiatives. It indicates that TG capability has been expanded on the APS system to include southern Nevada public safety agencies to interoperate with Arizona on this network, probably on the TG we have ID'd as INTERAGENCY (but DEMA IDs as INTERSTATE).
Happy reading

Great stuff! As a kid in the early 1980s, I occasionally tuned-in on the HF 'BROADWAY CONSUMER' net.

As for the "statewide" 800MHz system, alas, it's not statewide, as I have pretty good ears & haven't heard any 800MHz TRS data-channels coming from Arizona, but I will try one of these Wednesday mornings during their radio checks anyways.

I always wondered what the Broadway Consumers net was. I stumbled across it several times while dialing around before my Army MARS nets on HF.

Towards the late 1980s, I was tuning around on HF & stumbled across one of their routine check-in nets again. This time, I was in a position to be able to check-in to their net from a military station on the East Coast, and the NCS seemed very excited about my participation, though I couldn't tell them where I was at, etc. & one of their other stations actually had to advise the NCS what was meant when I said "I am prepared to authenticate," so needless to say, that didn't happen!
