A family member hit 1 of the buttons on my uniden BCD-396XT. The screen currently reads "scan mode" "nothing to scan". Could someone walk me through the steps to fix this.

Many thanks

all they did is press 1 or more numbers of the quick keys you set up, what you need to do is press every number 1-9 and you have it restored

Like Dragonball said, look at the scanner screen. If you see S0 then astericks all the way across the screen, you have deselected items attached to your quick keys. If you press the numbers 1-0, thats 1 thru 0, the numbers and you scanning should reappear. So if you want to scan alittle buy not a whole lot, temporarily asterick all numbers, then select only the numbers you want. The numbers assignments are a lengthy read. There are system keys, group keys, quick keys, and number tags. Each restricts something in your scanner to bring things that you are interested in to the forefront. Another trick, once you are scanning, is press hold on a frequency of interest. Then press hold again FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS, you hear a double beep. Now you will scan only that system,

Hi thanks for your reply. I followed the instructions you said of pressing 1-0 & nothing has happened? Any other suggestions on what I should do next?
