Before I program a frequency for a trunked system (i.e. Danbury fire dept ,CT), how would I know which "control channel" to program, since there are many sites, all over the state?

If you want to hear Danbury FD on CLRMN you should program the Troop A simulcast. The DFD TG *might* associate with adjacent simulcast cells but that depends on a lot of factors.
Everyone here, including you, suggested that in some form or another. OP was vague and did not specify that he wanted to listen to Danbury FD. He just used that as an example. So, multiple GOOD answers were given to the statement.Everyone here is wrong.
