• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Nope, not even close.

You'll need MT1000 RSS which is probably no longer available.

I am assuming that the HT-EX-MTX CPS will work with the HT1000....

No, the MT1000 uses Part # RVN 4017 R03.02.00 last update 2/12/2001 (DOS)

The ASTRO25 uses Part # RVN 4186 R15.00.00 dtded 9/24/2010 (WIN) for the following: XTS 1500/2500/4000/5000 and PR1500, astro spectra plus.

And there is a differant series for the regular astro, RVN 4184 R05.03.00 Dtded 10/21/2008

The HT-EX-MTX uses RVN 9025 R06.12.00 dtd 3/2011 (WIN)

However, the HT1000 is even older and uses dos program.

All four are differant and are not inter changeable.

You're 2 years behind. Latest version is R17.01.02 released 29 June 2012.

Does the ASTRO25 CPS program the MT1000 as well?

No, it does not. You need yet another software package for that radio. I don't think Motorola offers that software anymore due to its age. You can find in the wild if you look around.

I think I have the HT1000 software. Believe it or not this is the primary portable radio of the local Police Department. I am going to be helping them with becoming narrowband compliant. ... ... ...

If you need help for the following portables (Mt1000/HT1000), let me know. But keep in mind that the MT1000 is not narrow band compliant.

Where is the best place to obtain the USB style programming cable that isn't through Motorola?

Brandon,

If you're considering narrowbanding HT1000 radios, be advised that in most cases only the radios with a DN suffix on the serial number can be narrowbanded. The AN, BN, and CN models are usually wideband only.
