Steve,

I looked at your file. Seems a bit different from what I down-loaded from RR.

Open that file in Win500 and upload it to your scanner and see if you receive AC. If so, you can add whatever else you want to it, and upload that to the scanner, make sure you save any additions you make.

Everything you want in the scanner has to be in one file, because each upload over-writes what's in the scanner.

Steve,

I have down-loaded the file. In WIN500 I have four AC TSYS files called AC1, AC2, AC3 and AC4. They each have a different TSYS ID Object #.

What I can't seem to be able to do is call up one of those AC TSYS numbers to allow the handheld to scan the whole TSYS range.

How do I find out what V-Folder these are located in?

Can you ZIP up your win.500 file that your using and attach it to a message, so it can be look at it. Maybe the problem is in the way your setting it up!

I assume I have to buy ZIP s/w to do this?

Forget about ZIPing it up, I'm just lost on what your asking. I added a couple of Conv Freq's and the State Police with a few TG's to this file (attached) upload this file to your scanner using win500 and it should work. Maybe by adding the extra freq's and another TSYS you'll get an idea how your file should look.

Steve,

Ok. Current status...
Scanning now up and running. If you play around enough even a blind squirrl finds nuts eventually.

Ain't perfect though. I am still trying to learn the relationship between WIN500 and down-loading to scanner.

In the V-folder I am scanning now (not sure what V-folder I am using) I am in scan list 17. The handheld is scanning four TSYS's. Three of these are AC and one is from PA.

In WIN500 I don't seem to find the V-Folders. I must be missing something. If I can find the V-folder wtih all the objects, I would be willing to delete the repitive AC TSYS's.

I'm glad your getting something, first base! I really wish you would read this Guide, you can get away from V-Folder info and program just what you want from the database into Win500 save it and upload it to the scanner, when you download from the scanner it is what is in the scanner into the software. Using the Guide you can pick and choose just what is important to you for programming and get rid of all the stuff you don't want listen to by using the V-Folder info that came with the scanner. I really hope I'm helping you here! :)

AC Mot PS TSYS only has 27 TGRP object. The County EDACS TSYS are in V-folder 17 and has about 9 TSYS (one for each town site) with associated TGRP objects. However, you are better off using Win500 and Web Import to set to your choice, Using Steve's excellent Utah page should provide considerable help.

Steve,

I did use the guide you sent and that helped me get the PC/Scanner connection going for AC. Seems I downloaded the AC TSYS four times as I have four AC TSYS's that I named AC1,2,3,4.

Frank, I had heard the county TSYS does not work due to "rebanding". So I did not down-load that one.

Question....

In WIN500 at the TSYS Objects tab, I open that and I have 24 TSYS Objects. If I delete the ones I don't want (use) and resave as a new file and then upload to the scanner, will I then upload into the working memory only the ones I saved in the new file? Also, by deleting a TSYS will it delete the associated TGRP's as well or do they have to be deleted indivudually?

I am slowly getting there. Signing off now. Look forward to hearing what you both have to say tomorrow. With your help, I will master this thing!!!!!!!!!!!

It won't work from V-17 because it has old 866-869 non-rebanded frequencies. However, RR Database has new LCN's for each site. Use Web import and set each site in range to a TSYS. You can set all Police talkgroups to the same scanlist and all fire groups to another. Remember, EDACS requires all freqs from the selected site...no CC only.

Yes to whatever you save and send to scanner Main Memory. Working Memory is something you may be developing in V-Folder 00 though I use 00 for a trip file.

Hello Frank & Steve,

I was bold and went where no mortal man has ever been ..... I deleted lot's of TSYS's and reloaded to the scanner. Now all is well!!!!!! My tremendous confusion was because I had so many overlapping stuff in the scanner I think I (and the scanner) were on over-load. I think when I got the WIN500 s/w I uploaded from the scanner then started to down-load TSYS's from RR. So all in all I had lots of "crap" and confusion. I actually think I "get it" now. Will let you know now that I am not feeling WIN500 nuts now.

Frank & Steve,

Still up qnd running. Will try the AC County tomorrow. Playing successfully with WIN500. Might get fancy and program some LED colors.

Thank you both for your help and hanging with me hear as I came up to speed. I really appreciate your efforts!

Suggest we let this post go to archive. As I have more questions (and I will because I want to know what some of the settings in WIN500 settings) I will open a new query.

Again..............thank you so much!
