I'm newbie to scanning and the GRE PSR-600 is my first scanner. Audio cuts out approximately every 10 seconds. So can't hear more than bits & pieces of sentences. I've left the settings on the scanner as factory default except some locked out and some Priority channels. I use Win500 to program and work with my scanner. It's making me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

Priority is the problem. When Priority is on, the scanner momentarily must leave the freq. you are monitoring to check the Priority freq.

If you have "some Priority channels" programmed, you can expect a periodic audio cutout when the scanner tunes away from whatever's currently active to go and check those priority channels.

Thanks for suggestions, it's better

Eliminated all my priority flags. It's cutting out less often but still cutting out. Now it's exactly every 4 seconds

According to the spreadsheet that is posted in this thread:

http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95752

the interval at which your WX Priority is checked is user programmable. According to the NWS specs, the alert tone that the radio is checking for lasts for 10 seconds, so there should be no reason that you can't change the default setting (which appears to be 6 seconds) to 9 or 9.5 seconds instead. All this is assuming you still want to monitor your WX station as a priority channel. :)
