The site NAC looks like B6Dh. From my understanding the active site at this time is in Waynesboro. I was in the area and copied activity on the CC, but no verbal traffic.

looks like Waynesboro is piggybacking on the Grottoes site from what I can tell.

I got Staunton's info and uploading to the DB at this time.

Here’s what Waynesboro has posted to social media:
PUBLIC NOTICE:

The SAW (Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro) Region will be conducting area coverage testing to support their current upgrade to a new P25 Digital Trunked radio system. Radio coverage testing is the process of measuring and verifying the strength and quality of a radio signal to ensure reliable and efficient communication for public safety entities. The testing will also confirm compliance with safety and performance standards.

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT THE COMMUNITY?

During the weeks of September 8th, 2025, through September 26th, 2025, there will be vehicles driving throughout the community to test radio equipment. You may see vehicles in the area of your property that stop along the roadway for a few minutes and then move on. These vehicles will be unmarked (no logo or signage) and will have 3 occupants. The testing period for the City of Staunton and City of Waynesboro is expected to be September 8th-12th, and the testing period for the County of Augusta is expected to be September 8th-26th.
During this testing period, there will not be anyone approaching homes on foot or asking residents for any information.
If you see a vehicle that could be involved in the testing but have concerns, contact your local dispatch center on the non-emergency lines listed below:

City of Staunton 540-332-3842
County of Augusta 540-245-5501
City of Waynesboro 540-942-6701

Thank you for your patience as the SAW Region transitions to a new and improved radio system to ensure the safety of our public safety personnel during their day to day and critical incident operations.

I see TG’s have made it into the database. Anyone else listening for the system. What’s everyone’s experience with coverage at this time? I’m a little surprised so far. I’m not far away, in southwest Rockingham County, and can barely copy the control channel with my sds100. I’m hoping the coverage increases in my area once the system ramps up. I can go to Bridgewater and other nearby areas and see a better signal.

I have been listening to see if there is any activity and testing over the past week but haven't heard much.

The coverage aspect of this system is very interesting to me. I live a good ways away but have a line of sight to Elliott Knob and can pick up Augusta SO and Staunton's DMR system with zero issue. This new system is extremely weak and even with a great antenna setup I am not able to gain much in signal. I did bring my scanner over with me a few weeks ago when I went to Stuarts Draft and I was very disappointed in the signal quality that was received. It should be a better system by design but so far the analog system as well as Staunton's DMR system seem to be far superior in coverage at least from where I am at.

I get excellent coverage with Augusta’s current conventional channels, that’s why I’m wondering if it’s because it’s because all of the sites aren’t in service. I guess we’ll see.

Definitely not in service yet. Still in the testing phase, but not much traffic.
