Hi,

I have a Pro 106 which I listen to while relaxing in bed at night. I find that I like keeping the back light on to see what I'm listening to while scanning. Does anyone have any feeling for the number of hours of use the back lights have in them before they'll need to be replaced?

Thank you

Numbers often seen are between 50000 and 100000 hours for an LED.

LEDs in there? Great!

It's probably OK then if I fall asleep with the back light on from time to time.

Thanks!

I have many, many items with LEDs that I added in the early 70's and they still light up. One of the first things I added LEDs to was a little audio switchbox that I used to connect 3 tape decks. I took a wall wart for power, and changed the switches to DPDT and used the LEDs for indicators. Also added a bunch to some small gadgets like home brewed amps and active antennas to show if they were getting power or not. Some of these have been on for over 3 decades without being turned off!(Not counting a few power outages) I've only had LEDs fail for 2 reasons, too high voltage, and a couple of rare times, the lead on one isn't tight in the plastic "case" and it wiggles and evetually breaks. They are, if not abused, a "lifetime" light, IMO.
