Curious if anyone has any new insights with regards to BPD encryption. Some earlier speculation in this thread (including my own) was that the mixed transmissions might have something to do with older equipment still being in the mix (i.e. outdated portables in use)...but this is starting to seem a bit less likely with it being a good few months now.
Still sounds to me like clear transmissions are coming from dispatch, and encrypted from anything in the field. I won't pretend I've done a comprehensive analysis and claim 100% of dispatch is clear and vice versa, but there's no question that a portion of BPD traffic remains clear.
Certainly not complaining, just confused and curious. 🤷♂️🧐
