Baofeng UV-5X Mate

Hello all,

A friend of mine recently bought one of the new Baofeng models, the UV-5X Mate. We have attempted to program the radio using CHIRP. I've tried several different models from the list in CHIRP and none of them will read the radio. I'm using the build dated 11-2-16. There is a option for the UV-5X but it will not read the radio and I've tried it on 2 different computers. I'm sure the cable works as it programs my UV-5R without issues.

Does anyone else have this radio and run into similar issues and is there a fix? Thanks in advance.

FTDI cables or their equivalent are the way to go. You need an old version of the prolific drivers most likely.

Baofeng UV-5x mate programming problem

Purchased the same radio along with CHIRP, and cannot get the program to read the radio. Have emailed Baofeng to see if there's a new driver coming soon for CHIRP that will allow the program to read the radio and write new file to the unit.

Has anyone been successful yet that you are aware of?
