It’s a scanner. Uniden BC250. I am not a member of the Sheriff’s Office but we’ve discussed it.Is it a commercial 2-way or a scanner? Are you a member of the Sheriff's Office?
It’s a personal scanner.Welcome to the RR forums. If this is a subscriber radio and you're an authorized user of said radio, best to get in touch with whomever is in charge of programming your agency's radios rather than relying on someone on a hobbyist forum, particularly when life safety is involved
BP250Is it a Bearcat 250 or BC250D? They are 2 different scanners.
Thank you for the reply. I expected it might not work since it is an older scanner. What handheld would you recommend in order to receive the MOSWIN P25 system traffic? If you have a handheld, the BC250D can receive APCO digital audio only if it has the digital card. It will tell you if the card is installed when you turn on the scanner. Even if the card is installed, it cannot trunk track the 9600 baud control channel of the MOSWIN P25 statewide trunked system. It can only trunk track the 3600 baud control channel of the earlier Motorola Type II systems.
Thanks, Wally. I joined the FB group. I also subscribed to Radio Reference. I'm still considering which handheld to buy. For the time being and to familiarize myself more with how the system works I've set up RTL-SDR on my laptop. I'm only using a single dongle at present so it is limited as to what it can do. I keep it on ERGM Fire most of the time. Last night heard a call for service for a female bitten by a copperhead snake.Golden Fire has joined the MOSWIN JASCO system and has its own TG on MOSWIN. By the way, there is a Scanner Group for the Joplin area on Facebook if you are interested.
