Since downsizing from house to apartment, I’ve had to redesign my shack. Nothing worked right for me from an appearance standpoint. So I decided to begin racking my gear. I started with my scanning gear first. This is the completed project. The speaker rack case is from eBay, the speakers and the panel they are mounted on, are from NovexComm. Can’t say enough good things about them.
The radio rack case I bought at Guitar Center. The radio panels are from Canada.

Now, on to the next part, racking up my Moto mobiles. Racking is the best way to go, but it’s definitely not for the faint-of-wallet…😎

cool setup. Do your SDS200s actually get a gps lock from inside a building? I was recently loaned a Uniden GPS BC-SGPS module to try out and I can't seem to get the GPS notification to come on. I havent tried to use it outside yet (since its an SDS200) and I usually use my SDS100 with a globalsat module without issue.

ahh hah!..... it's likely my phone cable. I've thrown away so many of these in my lifetime that I can't believe I need to buy one! lol

I have the GPS units because it was initially built as a go-kit. Once we ended up in an apartment set up, I kept the GPS units just for kicks. They do pick up a signal very well indoors, I must say. As far as the phone cable, it came with the units so I never changed a thing. Plug n play pretty much after you set the proper baud rate. These are obviously not Uniden made. I can’t comment on the Uniden brand ones.

What in the Fisher-Price happened to your knobs?
Fisher Price? Never heard that comment before. There’s a saying in life that goes “different strokes for different folks” I have the original knobs. I decided to try out these colored knobs to go with the multi color display on the SDS200s. The orange ones go with the orange display on the BCT15Xs. It may not be your cup of tea, but its my gear and I like them.

how are you feeding those 4 scanners antenna wise? Is that a multi coupler under the speakers?

Good eye! Yes, a 4 channel Stridsberg powered multicoupler. Antenna is a Diamond mobile VHF/UHF on a magnet on top of my mini fridge. It feeds the 2 bottom scanners. Top scanners are 800 trunking and I use a dedicated 800 base antenna near the window to feed both. Works pretty well too..

Really nice set up. I am in the process of updating my shack and you present a well organized set up. You are correct in saying you get what you pay for, I have been waiting to update my ham radio set up this coming year. Good job on your set up.

Man i'm just tugging your leg so take it all in jest. It's a good looking rack mount and I bet that cabinet makes the 4 speakers really sound good.

But it reminds me of the grandpa pickup trucks with a thousand extra amber lights and reflectors all over it :ROFLMAO:
