I bought some coax and just built a bazooka for 10m and 20m. Wow is all I can say. The comparison on 20 meters was astounding. I had an increase of 6 units on the meter for receive. The comparison was against my multi and dipole at 30 feet.
Thoughts anyone or their experience with a bazooka antenna.???

Built a couple for 11 meters back in the CB days! If I remember, they worked pretty well!!

I'd like to see how it works on 10m when it opens back up. What I like is to my ears the noise floor is lessened and I can't argue with good the increase in receive. :)

Other than bandwidth, the bazooka should perform just as any other doublet at the same height. There should be no gain increase. The ARRL Antenna Book will tell you as much. Regardless, if it works for you...

DX summit and moving around the bands tells that 10m is open on and off I just seem to hit the off times......
It is currently outperforming the doublet I have so I would say that it is working for me. Better receive but that is to be expected when an antenna is cut to that frequency.

I built a 40 Meter version many years ago to allow me to use a single antenna for both 40 M and the adjacent MARS frequencies, worked well and was easy to tune. When I moved about 3 years ago I don't have room for several different HF antennas so I went to a different design for my primary HF antenna.
