BC996T backlight replacement?

Is it possible to replace the backlight on a 996? I have one that the light is getting a little dim even on the highest setting. Great scanner, would not give it up.

You can send it in to Uniden. Or you can replace the LEDs yourself if you're skilled with SMD soldering techniques. But that's a pretty advanced repair skill.

I would send it to Uniden. I had an old BCD396T that had a couple issues. The fixed what I needed, did a complete bench test, fine tune, and replaced the keyboard, control knob, programming jack, and a few other things that were wore out all for the one price. It was like getting a factory refurbish. It came back in 2 weeks later like a brand new scanner.
