and I have a system that I want to put in the scanner.

Well this scanner automatically decodes the color codes and all of the information I need? the frequencies that I need are in the FCC data base

The 260 requires programming of your frequencies, it does not have a built-in database like the SDS, 436/536 or HomePatrol series do.

While the frequencies and other data you need are in the RadioReference Database most likely you will still need to program them in.

What particular system? Bare in mind that the 260DN doesn't handle P25 of any flavor nor does it trunk track

As long as it's DMR conventional then yes

While the frequencies and other data you need are in the RadioReference Database most likely you will still need to program them in.

Proscan supports the BCD260DN. OP already has the prerequisite premium subscription to be able to utilize RR's web import service with Proscan's favorites list editor. You get a 30 day free trial to program what you need, then after the trial expires $50.00 gets you two activations and periodic product updates

+1. The Bearcat 260DN does not support trunking or digital modes, such as P25.

It decodes the color code from a DMR system but gives no more information than that. It shows the frequency you have programmed and that you are listening to a DMR system. if you want more information, like talkgroups, you will have to use another scanner.

The Handheld was $249 and the Base was $349.
As far as DMR Trunking it will work this way.
You can enter all of the Trunking Voice Channels and Color Codes and it will scan all Voice Channel Talkgroups and decode all nonencrypted audio of every Talkgroup it does not display any TG information nor can you lockout any Talkgroup .
The scanners also treat NXDN the same way.

As far as DMR Trunking it will work this way.
You can enter all of the Trunking Voice Channels and Color Codes and it will scan all Voice Channel Talkgroups and decode all nonencrypted audio of every Talkgroup

This will only work if the control channel doesn't rotate. Further, on CAP+, CON+ & DT3 systems if slot 1 is used as control/rest on any given frequency, slot 2 can still carry voice so you'll be missing traffic following conventionally on a non-trunking receiver.

I did the same thing back in the day. Just programmed all the system frequencies into a bank (used a Pro2006 back then) and scanned with the delay off. It was far from perfect but it worked, sort of.

They need to add AGC on DMR. I don't know what's up with the audio but alot of commercial business I listen to audio is way to loud.

About the same as a receiver. Just put in all the frequencies. My R30 on P25 works great doing this.

You are correct that the 260DN does not support trunking or P25. It does support DMR and NXDN, both of which are digital modes.

The odd thing is that it looks like it does not support GPS based lock/unlock like a BCT15x

One thing to note on the 160/260 scanners. Uniden broke down the menu system real good. More refined than past scanners. You can tweak those lists in the menu. You will be able to scan until you program specific frequencies. Enjoy my 160.
