Hi! This is my first time posting and unsure if this is the right place to post but I wanted to see if any of you could help me with my 325p2. I bought the scanner for my dad but non of us are really knowledgeable on this subject and well, after looking up videos I was able to find free scan and imported the trunked system for my city (Midland, Tx). Well I can see the different channels on my scanner but I can’t hear anything and I just noticed that under the name of the channel there is a message that reads “Finding Ctrl Chan”. I just want to know if I did something wrong or how would I go about being able to listen to my local fire and police dispatch. Thank you all so much!

Midland County Sheriff is using this system, fully encrypted
-that is a big problem right there.
Midland County Simulcast
Midland City Simulcast
-and that is just more problems.
-the 325 does have a problem with simulcast and no radio can receive anything encrypted.
i would leave it on ID SEARCH to see if you can hear anything.
with simulcast, moving the radio around up, down, sideways, other rooms, outside, attenuation on might help.
and have the squelch on 2.

Welcome to the forums! Law enforcement on the Midland County trunked system is fully encrypted and cannot be received by any scanner. Fire and public works are clear to receive. If the scanner is programmed correctly, you may be experiencing simulcast distortion as mentioned by wtp above. "Finding Ctrl Chan" is a symptom of that. Talkgroups with a mode of TE are fully encrypted.
