While using location scanning, anytime I try to hold a channel it gets stuck on Dept. site hold. Every. Time. Only way to fix it is to turn the whole thing off, let it boot up again. Using the search by area is almost impossible, because if you hold the wrong "dept." you're stuck on it. Followed all the instructions on here already posted, they don't work. You can turn "system" and "chan" on and off put it won't turn off "dept.". Is the thing just glitched out? Why when a press the button to turn it off it just refuses to work? Infuriating.

Site hold and Department hold are two different holds: Scan Hold

Department Hold

Press Dept to pause for 2 seconds then hold on any Department. (Department is reversed in the display for Pause Mode) Double press Dept to hold without a pause. Press Dept then quickly scroll to any Department in Pause Mode. Double press Dept to release Department Hold.

Site Hold

Press Func then Site to hold on any Site in the current System. Press Func then Site and quickly scroll to the Site in Pause Mode. (Site is reversed in the display for 2 seconds in Pause Mode) Press Func then Site to release Site Hold.

It's a known bug. When a system are avoided, temporary, permanent or from the GPS, and you happen to be in that system when it is avoided, then it goes into department/site hold mode and you will have problem to get out of that hold mode, as when you try to disable the avoid it immediately force a new avoid before you have a chance to do anything to get out of that system.

In your case you will probably need to disable location control and then go into that systems setting and disable its avoid in sys option and then you can do an unhold of the dept. This is also what automatically happens when you reboot the scanner and you are then free from the dept hold.

I can't seem to pin down what exactly makes this happen. If you have a hold on a Channel TG that are trunked it will automatically do a site hold. It happens if you have a hold on a conventional channel and then scroll to a trunked system, and I suppose it will do the same if you use a number...
