Just wondering if any BCD536 owners have experienced what I will describe as a "hair trigger" with the SCROLL CONTROL/FUNCTION knob. I had sent my 536 back to Uniden several years ago and ever since getting it back, it seems like the knob is super sensitive when trying to make selections/adjustments; it's very touchy!

Hmmm...we have 12 BCD536s at work that I update programming on regularly! I wouldn't say it's a hair trigger....maybe each of those 15 feel a bit different, a couple maybe harder to manipulate and a few others a bit easier! But you've made me interested...I'll go in Sat and give them a try and see how the knob reacts!
I will add that I really like the 996P2 knob as it takes a firm push to make it do its thing.

My 536 went deaf about 2 yrs ago. Way out of warranty. I sent it in to get fixed and mentioned my Function knob was really sloppy too. It came back with the receive fixed and knob like new. Nothing mentioned about the knob part, so I don't know what they did to it

Same knob problems here. I suspect that it is a cheap rotary encoder with bare brass or copper contacts. Folks who program a lot probably do not notice. Mine is twitchy and skips. Some de-oxit may help. Or with it turned off spin the knob a few dozen times. Which I am going to do now.

That de-oxit is some good stuff I use it on all of my audio components also! (y)

Uniden doesn't use copper in any of their connectors and not even brass. It looks like some recycled metal from tin cans and cars that are used that seem to have some chemicals in it that are exposed to the surface after some use and oxidize. I stripped the casing off my 536 and held it with its front down and sprayed some contact cleaner through the cracks at the backside of the selector. I did that 4-5 times and then rotate the selector 20-30 times still in that position and then it has worked like new for 3 years now. If I would do that again I would take a heated needle and poke a small hole through the plastic and spray into that hole.
