OK, you need to create a Custom Favorites List in order to make changes to the channel attributes.
You can do that watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECOUceSdVCo

Yep, I noticed that too. The instructions do not correspond to the folder/file structure of the download.

.It seems on the Motorola Type II Smartnet systems, 800 and 500 systems, It is not quiet after a transmission. Seems like the squelch needs to be turned up. But even at 19 or 0 is stills has the static noise. It is really annoying.. My 996xt doesnt act this way...Anyone elseexperiencing this issue?

Is this a burst of noise at the end of each transmission like a "squelch tail" as heard on Kojaks's Bearcat II or III scanner in his car as seen on TV in the 1970's?

<LOL> It was not quite that easy. My pc decided not to cooperate and fought me
every step of the way, just because it CAN! After re-running the installer multiple times
as administrator and unplugging and replugging the dongle, I finally DID GET this to
work.

I should be good to go with the dongle when the app gets released.

Thanks !!!

this is the only method that worked for me.

BCD536HP can miss traffic under certain conditions

I am monitoring the TxWarn system in Harris County, TX and the surrounding counties.

I created a personal favorites list that has one system (TxWarn), 13 entities (departments), and 15 sites (towers).

I only wanted to monitor my local PD so when a transmission came up on my local PD I hit
the DEPT button so the scanner would only monitor my local PD.

I did not turn off any of the 15 sites using quick keys.

I found the 536HP would be silent for several seconds and then the scanner would
say "ten four" or "clear 107." The dispatcher was responding to a transmission that
the scanner never heard.

To verify this I broke out the PSR-800 with the same scan list (department) and talk group id's
that are in the 536HP. The only difference is the PSR-800 was set to monitor one specific
site only. The 536HP apparently was still scanning all 15 sites.

Sure enough, even though only one DEPT was being monitored, the 536HP missed several
transmissions that the PSR-800 picked up. Eventually the 536HP got "caught up" and was
in sync with the PSR-800 but it always lagged about 2 seconds behind. Some short
transmissions were missed entirely, and the longer ones lost the first 1 or 2 seconds.

Apparently, if you do not turn off any sites, and even though it is monitoring only one
department, the 536HP will still monitor all sites even though some of those sites
will never carry my local PD traffic.

So, if you wish to monitor a single entity via the DEPT key, it is best to turn off some
of the sites that do not carry that dept. You do this by use of the quick keys.

Does this sound like a feasible explanation of the problem?

When scanning my county in PA it seems to pause every few seconds when someone is talking on a channel. I found that this pause also corresponds with the replay recordings. So as it pauses it creates a new break in the recordings. I don't believe I have any priorities set. Any suggestions?

Looks like my weather alert was set to on. I turned it off and now it appears that it's good to go! What a great little unit!

Set a longer record time.
Or turn off any recording that YOU do not initiate.
That might help

I ordered my BCD356HP from Hamstation.com and eagerly await its arrival. I presume Hamstation is a reputable business after seeing that others here have ordered from them.

I've read about how the scanner works with WiFi, has a WiFi dongle etc but am I correct that the Uniden Siren app software is not available yet? If not is there an expected release date for it?

Hello folks, I'm en route in a few hours to pick up a 536, but have one lingering question/concern....
I currently have a 996XT and have it set up the way I prefer. With the 536, can I keep the same groups, etc that I currently have on the 996XT, or am I bound by the home patrol database exclusively? I'm hoping for the price tag, it allows some customization, as I'm not a big fan of how home patrol groups frequencies. Being in a less populated area, we still have many conventional freqs here, many of which aren't on radioreference or the home patrol database.

Correct, it is not out yet. There is also a separate thread under the Uniden Scanners category solely about the app so they might have additional information or specific discussions there...

Case for 436?

Does anyone know of a case for the 436? I have not seen anything about one from Uniden but I wonder if anyone has identified a 3rd party source. I am kind of fussy with my portable gear and will feel much better if it is protected in a case.

Thanks and 73

I would doubt that one would be out this soon, since folks are just getting their hands on them this week.

You can set up the 536 any way that you want. The use of the HP database is entirely optional. You can easily mix and match using the database along with your own frequencies as well.

Page 48, Set Alert, Set Alert Light, 7/8th's down the page.

I am still having problems assigning light alerts to conventional channels. I read the manual on page 48 and it sounds like it is with the scanner. Can you set the light with the Sentential software? I am finding it very frustrating but it should be easy.
